 A very Disney Valentine's Day...

I received free products in order to host a Disney Side @Home Celebration. The opinions expressed here are my own.

I was thrilled to be chosen to host a party for my family and friends.  The box of goodies was lots of fun, and deciding how to use each separate item was like a puzzle!  We decided to have our party on Valentine’s Day in the afternoon – a fun precursor for our love of Disney prior to any possible romantic evening plans.

Preparation for the party was quick and easy thanks to the decorations provided in the box.  Hanging streamers, putting together banners, and prepping food took only one afternoon.  I was beyond thrilled with how the rainbow Duff cake mix turned out!  However I must confess I do not have steady hands or much patience for decorating, so I enlisted my talented friend Autumn to pipe the cake.  She did an amazing job!

I invited my parents, big sister and her family, my wonderful Grandma Moo, and a set of friends.  I asked all who were willing to wear their favorite Disney gear or better yet, Disney Bound!  Everyone was very obliging – but I believe the prize for best Disney Bound should go to Katie – and her charming Megara getup.

For food, I opted to use as many of the items provided in my magical box as possible.  The Disney themed menu was as follows:
  • Veri Veri Teriyaki penne – I used the Soy Vay teriyaki sauce provided, penne pasta, and peas!
  • Man dip – a liquid gold concoction which is a staple at all parties at my house.
  • Hot dogs! With my mom’s incredible chili and cole slaw
  • Chips and guacamole
  • Dole Pineapple floats
  • Crunch Paks – a huge hit with my fruit loving nephew!
  • Rice Krispie treats
  • Mickey cake
  • Twinings Tea
We enjoyed our time together eating and chatting, playing with the photo booth, and competing in Disney trivia.  I was impressed at the high level of Disney knowledge of everyone in attendance – so much so we had to take it to a tie breaker for the 2 teams.  For that I used my favorite trivia question which was originally posed to me by an enthusiastic cast member at The Magic of Disney Animation: what is the name of Ursula’s eels?

A huge thank you to all who dressed up and ventured out to attend on such a cold February day!  Also many thanks to the Disney Parks team, BSM Media, and all the sponsors who contributed.  I greatly enjoyed the excuse to get together with friends and host a party – and it really inspired me for future events.

I like to talk about my family, Disney, travel, food, and fashion.  Always in that order.
