Following our epic Orlando adventure last September, I began to research Disney Vacation Club in earnest. A visit to the DVC offices after being corralled by the DVC kiosk people at Downtown Disney proved very informative and compelling. I ran numbers and talked about it constantly for at least 2 months. At least. Everyone within close proximity of me knew about it, especially my parents. Well the hours of information clearly sunk in because on Christmas Eve, Lala and I were each handed a Disney Vacation Club Member ornament, along with the paperwork for our new home resort.
To say that it's the gift that keeps on giving, is the ultimate understatement. My parents successfully secured 50 years of magical memories for us and our families. They also chose the home resort to be what currently sits at the top of my Disney Bucket List... The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
I cannot explain how many times we have ridden the monorail over to The Grand Floridian, and stood in the lobby in awe while always saying, “Maybe next trip we will get to stay here for a night!” A dream come true indeed. Next year, our whole family will be fulfilling that dream with 5 nights in a ridiculous suite at The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
This incredible Christmas gift also set into motion changes for the cruise we already had planned for May 2014. Points from the 2013 use year had to be used pronto (too bad!) so as soon as the paperwork was FedEx'd we got to add to our existing trip. What a treat! So we added one night at Bay Lake Tower prior to the cruise, and 2 nights at Animal Kingdom Lodge (another bucket list item) for after the cruise.
And so began our time as Disney Vacation Club Members, with a magical Christmas surprise.
